AMBER Alert Update: Missing Texas Boy Who ‘Never Made It To School’ Found

Texas officials canceled an AMBER Alert for a missing 9-year-old child who “never made it to school” after he was found safe at a friend’s house on Wednesday.
An AMBER Alert was issued for Zavien Keyes on Wednesday. Family members told the Grapevine Police Department that Keyes had missed the bus and decided to walk to Glenhope Elementary School.
He “never made it to school” that morning.
Keyes was found “sleeping on a friend’s couch, not far from home” less than six hours after he was reported missing. Officials said he was not harmed.
“Officers searched the neighborhood and nearby parks and roads for hours looking for the child, even launching drones to aid in their search,” the Grapevine Police Department said on Facebook.
The alert said the child was “endangered.” He was described as a Black male with brown eyes and short dreads.
“We want to thank our amazing community for the support and help in locating this little boy. We also thank the multiple partnering agencies who responded so quickly to assist in this search effort,” police said.
AMBER Alert is a notification system utilized nationwide to inform the public of missing children under the age of 18.
The alerts are shared through radio, TV, road signs, cellphones and other data-enabled devices.
Around 1,200 children have been found and 180 children were rescued because of the AMBER Alert system as of last year.
A missing persons case must meet several criteria for an AMBER Alert to be issued. The criteria include an abduction must have occurred, the child must be at risk of serious injury or death and there has to be descriptive information of the child, the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle.
Four children from California, Tennessee and Wisconsin remain missing.
Wyman Bryant, 4, and Willow Bryant, 2, were last seen on August 14 in Los Angeles.
Officials said the children were taken by David Walker James and Tiffany Bryant. Authorities said they could be driving a 2008 champagne-colored Buick Enclave with paper license plates.
Wyman Bryant is described as a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is around 3-foot-5 and weighs around 34 pounds. Willow Bryant is described as a white female with blonde hair and brown eyes. She is around 2 feet tall and weighs around 20 pounds.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department at 213-229-1700.
